Our national conferences

A day on how a German education can be leveraged for global success, the challenges international students face, and building stronger ties between Cameroonian and German universities. Keynote by Marcelline Ongongono (PhD, University of Dschang; research fellow, KIT); talk by Dr. Klaus Rümmele, Head of International Affairs at KIT. Exhibition: Threads of Tradition: Celebrating Cultural Tapestry.

For the first time the annual conference was held on the African continent. Under the theme “The Baden-Wurttemberg Foundation, the scholar, their return and their reintegration at home — what challenges?”, members and guests discussed life after the scholarship and irregular migration, with Prof. Jean-Marie Kouakou (director of the SCALL doctoral school), Prof. Alphonse Boua and Dr. Gervais Boga. Dr. Babette Abanda joined by video from Germany. Countries represented: Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, Togo, Uganda, Benin and Germany.

“Bridging the Gap: Network Implementation, Evaluation & Optimisation.” The chapter's first national conference, and the first time members met in person as a chapter: a talk by Dr. Babette Abanda on the power of networking, an interactive workshop led by Prof. Monique Scheer (Vice-President for International Affairs and Diversity, University of Tübingen), a talk on the CIVIS alliance by Christian Möllmann, and a boat ride on the Neckar.
